FIFA, in comparison, can feel a little sluggish at times-even the best players don't handle in especially agile fashion. More specifically, on-screen players feel appropriately fleet-footed, and the better players are able to turn on a dime, or cut in while running at high speed. FIFA has a clearer pattern of what works and what doesn't, while plays in PES 17 more readily develop more organically, and promote improvisation. Attacks can stem from considered passing or fast counters, and seamlessly flicking the ball between players on the run is a common occurrence, resulting in beautiful goals. The pass tightness and player speed perhaps feel more arcade than sim, but the end product as a whole plays very logically. Generally speaking, the intangible flow of the game feels right, with tightly zipped passes, realistic tussles for the ball, and some great animations as players stumble over a tackle and continue pursuing the ball. PES 17's on-field action is easily its biggest asset, something worth putting up with a number of annoyances to experience.
